Thank You!

We'd like to thank everybody for trying out the alpha and providing us with lots of good feedback in comments, bug reports and mails! This is exactly what we need, to make sure, that "Nikki and the Robots" will become a smooth game.

One note about the auto-updater... Unfortunately, there has been an issue with memory usage, that could have resulted in a crash on many computers. This problem should be fixed with version 0.2.22 and above. We have disabled the automatic updating for the affected prior versions, so if you have anything below 0.2.22, you should manually download the current version of the game from our site. Sorry about that, we hope you understand, that things like that may happen with an alpha.

Thanks again from everybody at Joyride Laboratories and we hope you keep following the developments!

(By the way, we have added a donate button (PayPal) and a Flattr button to our homepage. Any support for Nikki will be greatly appreciated!)

  1. The new version looks great! (on OSX10.5, whereas the older version couldn’t start.)

One problem though. On OSX the standard controls for switching to different “Spaces” (i.e., desktops) are Ctrl+Arrow, which makes it rather challenging to play Nikki. You should look into taking over complete control of the keyboard (as most other games do) or allowing the keys to be configurable.

Other than that, it’s great. I love the controls and the feel. Keep up the good work.

Yes, we are aware of the Ctrl+Arrow problem on OSX with spaces activated. I didn’t consider taking over complete control of the keyboard, I assumed that was impossible, I’ll look into that. Another solution would indeed be to allow configuration of keyboard controls.
